I second that, so I’ll be there for 7pm. I did a wet ride last Wednesday and I’m getting fed up with drying my shoes & saddle out. I was out yesterday and was disappointed that nobody turned up for the 9am, so I spent a few hours round the park myself and was surprised that it didn’t rain & the trails weren’t too bad.
I did it last Wed’s ride Iain and felt it was a bit short, although I held the ride up at the start, it was raining from the heavens and a few folk had to catch trains, so it probably finished earlier than usual.
I personally prefer the earlier start of 7pm, as usually with larger numbers on a Tues night can mean at least a 30min wait for the jetwash (being a key holder, I usually wait till the end). I have no problems with meeting up with fellow riders on the trail, or normally if I’ve been out riding earlier than the planned time, I tend to head back to the carpark for the start time…….generally on a Tuesday though.
You’ll probably find that it suits Sam too, as I’m sure she’ll be coming straight from work (as I occasionally do), so the later start sometimes doesn’t suit.
It wasn’t so bad last night. Four out, rain light or non-existent once we were off. However, all the rivers and streams were torrential, the Allander almost over its banks in places, and the amount of surface water was incredible; the singletrack from the girders was the most flooded I’ve seen it. Bearing that in mind, we decided on a blast around the Dumgoyne loop. Was shocked to see the resurfacing (it’s better than most of the roads I ride to work!). We got a bit of a tailwind on the way back down the high pipe track :~) As usual, turned out fun despite the conditions.
Guys and gals – calander ride tonight is Whangie, which I would suggest will be horrible in the soggy conditions noted. Dumgoyne sounds a sensible route !!
A short section of the pipe track has had a tracked vehicle doing some logging work, so is a bit of a slog. Rest of it was fine, other than a slight diversion in Blanefield where paramedics where attending to a youth that had drunk too much and passed out on the track opposite the war memorial ;~)
Nice wee spin around Dumgoyne for about 9 of us. Very wet from below but a lovely night. Lights on from just about the start and a definite chill in the air by 9 pm – Autumn is definately with us. A busy night on the trails, Barry and Neil had a similar sized group out for the ‘Tuesday does Wednesday’ ride, and we were all at the club around 10 for the jetwash etc

Could always do the scheduled regular club run at 745 ?

No probs. hopefully see you out on the trails somewhere
Yes, Barry is right. I have to hang around as it is when I do any 7pm ride!!

Hi Kev,
Your more than welcome to join us at 7pm. Even though it’s not an official club ride time, it’s open to all.
See u then
cool, see you then
I’ll probably come along to the 7pm too.
Sounds like 7 is the new 745 🙂
I blame Sam, it’s all her fault! 😛
