west highland way n/s or s/n

hello

 just a quick bit of recommending required.answers on a post card for best way to go. North to South  or South to North.Probably going to Fort Bill as opposed to coming from Fort Bill.Also thinking of just Ardlui to Fort section

 not planning doing it in a day… want to enjoy not kill myself.my original idea take lightweight tent/tarp/bivvi… ardlui ….bridge of orchy/inveroran day 1 .day 2 B of O/Inveroran….to Fort or day2 devils s/c and ciaran path day 3 fort Bill ???!! but open to suggestions

  1. Wait and see which way the wind is going and go that way?

    Ardlui to FW is a good call if you’re doing it for enjoyment. It’s good and relatively easy going to Devils Staircase from Ardlui, so maybe Ardlui to Gelncoe day1, abs Glencoe to FW day 2 with Ciarin Path could be a good shout.

  2. Both times, I have ridden it N to S. This means getting all the climbing in at the start when you are fresh and you don’t have to think too much about logistics of getting transport back (as you have already done that bit). Also, you are more into civilisation at the end of the day when you are knackerred, and closer to home in case if you need a lift (PS Last time, Alison was meant to pick me up last year but went AWOL on a Kenny Wilson ride – so that ride back to Grant’s seemed like an eternity). The N end of Loch Lommond is pointless in my view, take the tarmac past the Drovers and use the ferry. If you are not sure, just do it both directions then make your mind up…
