Cheeky Friday Ride

Hi – Paivi & Dave are visiting so a few of us are heading out for a local ride this Friday and will be meeting up with Dawn after she’s done some crazy offroad run somewhere 😉 .  It looks like there’s Barry, Thomas, Eilidh and myself.

11am at the club hall if you’re interested.  Paivi, Dave and myself will be riding up from Glasgow trying to follow the urban route in reverse.  Contact me if you’d like to join us for the ride up, otherwise we’ll see you at the club hall.

Balmahooha Ride

Hi folks,
I hope you’re all looking forward to the Balmaha weekend trip.  A big thank you to Dawn for organising it (again!) and to Lorna for transferring the bags (again!).  I’m sure it’ll be another great weekend and it’s great to see a lot of new faces coming along too.  As we’ve got a group of 20+ riders and we’re using a public path I thought I’d post up a few wee reminders to keep the ride running smoothly, I’m sure most of it is pretty obvious: Continue reading

Vacancy: Easter Weekend Away

We’ve had 1 person pull out of the hostel for the Easter trip to Grantown so there’s a space going if you fancy it.  It’s first come, first served so fill in your name on this form if you’re interested:

Easter Trip sign up form

Even if you miss this opportunity but are still interested and would be happy to pay up if a space became available then fill your name in to be on the waiting list in case we get any other folks pulling out.

To everyone else who has signed up a wee reminder that the accommodation money £74 is needed by Fri 27th Feb – just over a month away.  After that point the accommodation money is non-refundable unless you can find someone to take your place.

2015 Subscriptions Now Due

Hi there.  Now that we’re into 2015 it means the subscriptions for GMBC members are  due.  As agreed at the AGM we’re keeping the subs the same as last year, namely:

  • £15 for new members, students and those living more than 25miles from Glasgow
  • £25 for returning members

To sign up, please fill in the membership form.  It contains the details of how to pay your subs (either by BACS or in person at your bank).  Returning members are also required to complete the form as we need to be sure we have the correct details for you as well as your emergency contact details.

Sign Up For Easter Weekend Trip

Hi.  We’ve used club funds to pay the deposit for exclusive use of the Ardenbeg Bunkhouse in Grantown-on-Spey (approx 15miles north east of Aviemore).  The trip will be for 4 nights, arriving Thu 2nd April, departing Mon 6th April.  Bunkhouse accommodation will cost £74per person for the weekend (assuming we get 19+ people signing up).

Grantown is a great base for mountain biking with it being a short distance from both the Glenlivet trail centre and all the classic trails near Aviemore & Rothiemurchus, not to mention a skills loop in Grantown itself.  With all the riding nearby there should be options to suit everyone.  As is usual with club weekend trips we’ll be sharing the catering duties and there will be plenty of great banter (although, no hot tub this time!).

All the details for signing up & making your payment can be found on the link below:

Hogmanay Local Ride & Beer

Hi.  As per the title really – it’s a local ride followed by a sociable post-ride beer/non-alcoholic beverage in a local pub (location TBC, probably the Burnbrae).

10:30 departure from the club hall, probably riding for 3-4 hours – maybe with a short cafe stop before returning to town to find a warm pub.  I’m trying to pack in as many of the best local trails as possible.

Take front & rear lights in case it’s dark when leaving the pub.  NB: it won’t be a long session in the pub, just that the days are short!
