Saturday pub run

Hi All Just a wee reminder about the second social “Saturday pub run” of the year. Tomorrow (10th sept).  The weather from the BBC is white cloud and some drizzle.  The route is as follows.  Carbeth Inn, Blane Valley Inn, Glazert Hotel,(or Swan Inn) Kinkaid House Hotel, The Stables, Weatsheaf Inn and finally finishing off in Milngavie at Cyan. Bear in mind the usual stuff about Pubs sell more than just beer.  You can have soft drinks, tea, coffee etc.  (On the last trip we did find it hard to get a scone for Phil so scones are off unless you bring your own.)  We will set off at 10 am. You are welcome to join for as little, or as much, of the trip as you wish depending on the time you have available. Times wise we will be in the Carbeth for just after 11am and if we say roughly an hour between pubs we will not be far wrong.  The only exceptions being the long run from Blanefield to Lennoxtown and when we stop for lunch it will probably be a longer stop.  Times will always be approximate as there may be drink involved!! This social event is about having fun, a lot of laughs, good food, camaraderie and a bit of cycling thrown in for good measure. Make sure, if you are doing the whole thing, that you have planned to be out most of the day as time flies when you are having fun. All the best. For Sale: Singlespeed Road Bike – upgraded Specialized Langster

I have a Specialized Langster singlespeed road bike that I hardly ever use that I’m selling.  I had bought it for commuting but I only used it infrequently and since we moved offices in March I don’t have a nice secure basement to lock it in anymore and it’s too bling to lock outside my new office.  I’m also moving house so it will be one less thing to move!

It’s a 2007 56cm but a lot of the parts have been upgraded (lovely set of wheels, quality transmission, Ultegra brakes, seatpin etc.).  Full spec is:

  • Specialized A1 Premium Aluminium frame, fully manipulated tubing, compact design, integrated headset;
  • Specialized carbon fork, carbon fibre legs, aluminium steerer;
  • Specialized Mindset, 1 1/8″ integrated threadless, sealed bearings, alloy 20mm cone w/ one 10mm and two 5mm alloy spacers;
  • Specialized Sport, 3D forged alloy stem, 31.8mm split clamp, 7 degree;
  • Specialized Comp, 6061 alloy, short-reach drop handlebars, 31.8mm;
  • Cinelli Carbon Fibre effect ribbon w/ 2.5mm gel padding
  • Shimano 6500 Ultegra 175mm cranks and Octalink BB;
  • TA Specialities 48T Track chainring;
  • White Industries Eno (the best) 18T freewheel;
  • Izumi 1/8″ track chain;
  • Ft wheel: Hope Ti Fatso 32H QR hub with DRC ST17 rim, stainless DB spokes and X-Lite skewer;
  • Rr wheel: Goldtec 36H allen bolt mounted hub with DRC ST17 rim and stainless spokes;
  • Specialized Mondo, 700x23C, wire bead tyres;
  • Carbon Seat post (not the aluminium sleeved original);
  • SpecializedComp Roadsaddle;
  • Specialized CNC, alloy seat binder;
  • Shimano BR-R600 (Ultegra standard) brakes;
  • Cane Creek SCR-5 Silver brake levers;
  • Specialized alloy bottle cage.

Geometry is of the sloping top-tube compact style and is as follows:

Would probably suit someone a few inches either side of 6ft in height.

Other than a couple of stone chips, the bike is in absolute mint condition.  Would make an excellent training or winter bike.

Looking for £350 for it.  If anyone’s interested let me know before it goes on the classifieds…

Ay Up – wanna try some lights?

I’ve not heard from Andy since Wednesday, so I’m assuming that the demo is still going ahead. I’d previously suggested that folks should be skulking about the car park from 6:30pm in order to grab a set of lights, ask questions, etc., in order to avoid delaying the ride. I’ll try to be on hand to ensure that paid-up members get priority :~) Last forecast I saw was that it was going to be pretty filthy during the aftenoon, but the deluge should abate by the time that we set off. So far, all that have expressed an interest should be OK.

Interim Club Clothing Order – Update

Hello folks,

We are almost there with the number of tops.  I have 12 confirmed, 5 have yet to choose sizes and the club will order 6 spare tops.

I have emailed CycleJersey to confirm a couple of things and will come back to you with confirmation shortly.  If all goes well, I hope to place the order before the end of this week.

Just to confirm the following incase I’ve made a mistake, I have the following orders confirmed (mainly from WordPress & a few by email):

Bradley VB – Large L/S FR, Eilidh – Small S/S XC, Callum Smith – Large S/S FR, David Duns – Medium S/S XC, Elizabeth – Small L/S XC, Steven M70 – Medium L/S FR, Euan Boyd – Large S/S XC, Grant – XLarge L/S FR, Iain Ferguson – 2 x Large S/S FR, Gerry Cleary – XLarge S/S XC.

Still to confirm sizes: Stephen Malaney – Large S/S XC??, Jack/Captainscrumpy – S/S XC??, Elaineandg – Large or XLarge S/S FR??, Paivi – 1 x S/S XC & 1 x L/S XC??.

For the folk that have confirmed  – only leave a reply if I have your size/top choice incorrect.

For the folk that haven’t confirmed sizes yet – please do so within the next few days.  Leave a reply and see if anyone can help you by trying on their tops.  Or go to the website http://www.thecyclejersey.com/shop/.  If buying an XC top, click on the cycle jerseys Categorie and select any jersey, then select the ‘Jersey Size’ drop down – this gives you recommended chest sizes in inches.  For Freeride, go back to the home page, and select Freeride Jerseys in the Categories and do the same as above.

Cheers

Barry

TOUR BE BEN NEVIS

Hi all

I was just wondering if anyone is planning on doing the NO FUSS Tour de Ben Nevis event on the 24th September. I would be really keen for going but unfortunatley I don’t have a car. If anyone is driving over and would fancy spilting the cost of petrol I would be really interested.
