Hi there,
I was recently contacted by the land managers for the Craigallian and Carglas plantations and advised abou the forestry work starting imminently. Here’s the details:
- The roads contractor started work on 9th April
- The timber harvesting will start next week (w/c 16th April) as the road upgrade and the harvesting need to be co-ordinated together apparently.
- The harvesting will be in the areas marked on the map below as Phase 1 as well as a few pockets required for the road upgrade (April – June) – looks like it will affect areas at the top of Rosies & Flux where there were lots of trees down.
- Phase 2 of harvesting is in the plan and subject for approval (June – August) – looks like it will affect areas lower on Flux, areas beyond Jacqui’s Root and along the boundary trail that leads from Rosies towards the Craigallian house end by Khyber Road.
- w/c 9th April the diggers will be on the main north-south road running through the plantation. The road will still be passable but make your presence known if you need to pass.
- w/c 16th April the diggers will be on the section running west from the main junction.
Also here’s a link to a larger version of the plan.
If you have any questions then please let me know and I’ll try to find out.
