Ride Report: TV Filming At Cathkin

Just over a week ago, Stuart, Iain, Gary, Matt, Barry and myself headed out to Cathkin Braes to meet up with STV to be filmed riding the Commonwealth MTB track.  Iain C did a great job using his knowledge of the trail to suggest where to film and Barry was on Go Pro duties.

After some brief introductions at the start of the trail we got to the serious (show)business sessioning bits of trail for the camera and were egged on by the film crew to have a go at the black grade drop offs – we declined.  The dry trail conditions meant it was quite loose and sometimes hard to keep the line which resulted in Gary & Iain almost taking the film crew out at one point!  When we were finished riding the trails it was a chance to have a Q&A session in front of the camera answering questions about mountain biking in general what it was like being part of the club.  On Friday we got a call at short notice asking for someone to come along to the studio to sit on the sofa and be interviewed.  Being the shy, retiring type that he is, Barry stepped up to this challenge and no doubt did us proud with some enthusiastic chat – chapeau fella!

The piece they’ve filmed will be getting used on their new programme, The Riverside Show, which will be part of their new Freeview channel (on channel 23), STV Glasgow.  As soon as I hear when it’ll be broadcast I’ll let you know so you can see us mince about the trails shred the gnarr.   😉

  1. That second photo makes it look like I’m going really fast. The camera never lies. 🙂

  2. Iain being a consultant at Cathkin? With his record there?! ;-))
