Selkirk MTB Marathon Weekender – Roll Call

It’s getting closer to the time so I thought I’d post up to see who’s going and give you some details from the event organisers.  If you’ve not signed up but want more info then check out their webpage (http://www.selkirkmtbmarathon.com/).  You can sign up online until 7th May, there may be entries available on the day but they’ll be more expensive.  Here’s the timetable from the organisers:

There’s a few changes from last year, most notably is that it’s at a different campsite this year (Victoria Park rather than the Selkirk Rugby Club) and the event starts at 10am rather than the laid back midday start in 2013.

Friday:

  • 4pm – campsite opens
  • 4-7pm – registration opens (at Leisure Centre)
  • 7-9pm – bike festival in Selkirk town centre

Saturday:

  • 7-9:30am – registration opens
  • 9:55am – event briefing in Selkirk High Street (uphill)
  • 10am – race starts
  • 6pm – final finishers
  • after the event I plan to get something to eat and go and socialise

Sunday:

  • Time TBC – Selkirk Locals ride (in 2013 this was a chilled out sociable ride)
  • 9:30am – Selkirk SMBO event if you fancy that
  • 3pm – campsite closes

My plan is to head down in time to pitch the tent on Friday and get along to the bike festival stuff in town, grab some food and a few drinks.  I’ve got space for 1 passenger in my car but I’d be looking to leave Glasgow by 3pm at the latest so if you’re interested in the space then let me know.

Any questions?

  1. Hi Graham, yep I’m going. Hoping to get down Friday night but probably will be about 8 or 9pm by time I’m down. And I’ll be one of the final finishers at 6pm on Sat I think so Def planning on staying Sat night. And prob do social ride on the Sunday.

  2. I think I’ve signed myself up for this (50km option). Will be down Fri eve with the van, and may well stay over Sat night as well.

  3. Haven’t signed up yet, but will do tonight. Planning on doing the 50 or 75k route and planning to stay Fri/Sat/Sun (weather permitting).

  4. Hi. I’d emailed the organiser to ask if the Sunday social ride is happening as it was on their website but wasn’t in their info email. They said they would see at the time. Even if it doesn’t happen formally I know a few trails in the area so we can head out and do those and there’s a cafe stop on my route too so it will be social for sure!
