Glentress 7

Event blurb

A seven hour MTB race for individuals and teams of two or three, with the emphasis on great trails and a ton of fun – the route is all about fantastic trail riding, and features some superb sections of normally unavailable singletrack. The event is aimed at all levels of MTB rider, and you can go as hard or easy as you like. We’re planning some course changes again, keeping all the best bits of last year’s course, but with some more handcrafted trail magic we’re planning even more secret best bits.

The idea is to complete as many laps as possible within the seven hour time limit. The course is around 11km with roughly 450m of up and down. The main descent is a total classic, but it’s only available for the day – a lot of the trails are closed again straight after the event.

If you’re in a team, only one person is out on the course at a time, and while you’re not out there giving it full throttle, the event village and transition area will be rocking all day. Full facilities will be available on site, and all the Forestry Commission trail head amenities are on hand – showers, cafe and toilets. There’s camping with Glentress Wigwams right next to the race arena too.

Glentress 7 – Tweedlove

Had a great time at the Glentress 7 race on Saturday. The race was really well organised and the marshall’s were the most supportive bunch of guys I’ve ever seen at a race – well done. Pretty much an xc route with a couple of steep climbs with the rain adding some interesting line choices later in the day. Fantastic event and definitely worth doing, the guys at Tweedlove managed a sterling job of hosting it. Oh, and I managed 8th.
