Thomsons Cycles Halloween Howler Cyclocross Race – Gleniffer Braes, Paisley – Sunday 28th October 2012

Hi everyone,

For anyone who has the urge for a bit of fun racing this Sunday, there is a local cyclocross race happening over at Gleniffer Braes, Paisley. It’s a non-series Scottish Cyclocross race and there is a Halloween theme so it’s aimed at being fun! So why not stick on a scary costume and come and get filthy in Paisley! MTBs welcome as always.

Every entrant receives a free Thomsons Cycles sports bottle.

We are also trying to raise funds for Accord Hospice.

RACE TIMES, SIGN-ON & PRACTICE TIMES
Under 12 Race – 10am – £2 Entry Under 12 race sign on closes 9.40am prompt Course open for practice between 9.15am and 9.50am. Under 12 race starts 10.00am & finishes 10.15am
Youth Race – 10:45am – £6 Entry Youth race sign-on closes 10.25am prompt Course open for practice between 10.25am and 10.35am Youth race starts 10.45am & finishes 11.15am
Women’s/Vet’s/Junior’s Race – 11:45am –  £12 Entry Women’s/Vets/Juniors race sign-on closes 11.25am prompt Course open for practice between 11.20am and 11.40am W/V/J race starts 11.45am & finishes 12.25pm
Senior Men’s Race – 12:45pm – £12 Entry Senior race sign-on closes 12.25pm prompt Course open for practice from 12.30pm to 12.40pm Senior race starts 12.45pm & finishes 1.45pm
Please get to sign-on in plenty of time. Sign-on will close promptly 20 minutes before each race start time. This is to enable full start sheets to be passed to the commissaries and PA announcer.
There will be queues for each race category and a separate one for assigning timing chips.
YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE THE COURSE UNLESS SIGNED-ON
Helmets must be worn when practicing on the course.
Please take care when warming up and practicing as this is a public facility with dogs and young children on the loose.
The start/finish area is in the main arena next to the Sergeantlaw Car Park where you will find tasty grub being served by Euan and his team from the world-famous Grange Kitchen.

PRIZES
Prizes for the seniors, vets, ladies, juniors, youths and Under 12 riders will be custom medals and loads of bike goodies from Thomsons Cycles.
There will also be prizes up for grabs for the best Halloween costumes.

Fastest full lap of the day wins £50!!

PARKING
1. Robertson Car Park (Gleniffer Road). Then 500m walk/ride on path through park to race start area.
2. Braehead Road Car Park. Then 1 mile walk/ride through park on path to start area (you meet the race course after approx 1/2 mile then follow it to the start) – good warm-up opportunity!
3. VERY limited parking at Sergeantlaw Road beside race start/finish area (this will likely be occupied from early on, so best to go straight to Braehead Road or Robertson car parks).

  2. What a beautiful day for a race – very well organised, apart from the weather. Was shocked to even see Portaloos within sprinting distance of the start line.

  3. Great result Luke! I think you ‘won’ the single speed contest. And for your info, we arranged for rain as we were getting sick of blue skies and wanted a proper cross race 🙂
