Timber!

Take it easy hacking down through the quarry from Hole In The Wall.  There’s a tree down after the berm, and I wouldn’t recommend finding out while zipping around at warp factor 9 as I did tonight.  There’s another down at the end of Mangina; you have to crawl under it, but it seems stable and there’s room to drag a bike through.

Just Angus and me out on a lovely clear (and cold) night, trails still riding surprisingly well considering the deluge.

  1. I’ve emailed the park rangers to see if they can clear it (if it hasn’t been cleared already).

      Hi Graham,

I just happened to come across it on Wednesday when I was on Drumclog Moor to do some heathland management work and I just happened to have my chainsaw with me which was rather handy.  So the tree has been chopped.

Thanks for letting me know, keep encouraging folk to report back about any problems they come across on the surfaced or well used paths.

I’m trying to get money to put in a new culvert in on the flooded section of WHW to the east of the blue bench.  We’ve tried really hard to clear the original pipe but the drainage rods just keep going and never appear out the other end of the pipe…

      Thanks

      Maggie
