Club lakes weekend – not so good news

After coming off the garburn pass on Saturday, we were planning on heading up gatesgarth pass, but Graham started to feel unwell, and decided, very sensibly, that he couldn’t carry on.

I don’t wish to go into any details, as it’s not my place and I don’t think a public forum is the place to be broadcasting anyone’s situation, but he ended up being taken to the hospital in Preston and it looks like he will be there for a number of days, maybe longer.

I don’t wish to alarm anyone, but Graham has a lot of friends in the club, and I just wanted to keep people posted. I’m sure everyone will join me in wishing Graham a quick recovery.

All the best folks, and ride carefully.

Anyone fancy riding Fairlie Moor soon?

Another summer has come and gone and I’ve still not managed to get a GMBC ride organised for the moor!. So, after the Lakes weekend and the Perth Enduro are done, I’ll try and get a saturday ride on the calendar, If anyone has any preferences please post up.

There are numerous options to start and finish, but best option for a ride is to use the train as that means easy access from Glasgow and a few pints of the real ales available at the village inn….

Skills course – Thursday 25th April – 1 place left

Hi folks,

myself and my riding buddy Robin have booked a day with the bearded legend, Ed Oxley, on Thursday 25th of April. There is one space left if anyone else fancies it. The course is called ‘jumping for dads’ and is self explanatory, taking place at Gisburn forest in Lancashire. Not sure whether we’ll be staying over the night before, or heading off super early, but there would be space in the car, and we’d be heading through Glasgow from the shire. It’s £80, post up if anyone fancies it.

cheers, Greg.

3rd January – Fairlie moor?

Anyone fancy something different yet reasonably local?.

There is a few options for start and end point riding the moors, I’d suggest starting at Dalry railway station, which can be reached from Glasgow by train, or about 40 mins from the city centre down the A737 by car.

This way gives a nice warm up on back roads up onto the moor road, where there are a few options which all result in really good descents, the best of which being the descent from Kaim hill at around 1100 feet, down to sea level by means of techy moorland, swoopy rooty woods and finishing with a cracker down Fairlie glen. Anyone up for a day in the lakes?

Robin, myself and possibly a few others are planning a days riding in the lakes on Saturday 17th of November, if anyone is up for it?. Planning a pretty early start, as we aim to be riding about 9am. Not decided where we are riding yet, but it will probably be something like this –
