If the tour has inspired some skinny tyre action feel free to hook up with the Southside roadride, hope to be more regular again, riding from Crookston at 6.45pm, will head along to Hurlet, passing Toby inn about 7, then through paisley. Ride about 30ish miles into renfrewshire, 2 hrs approx.
16 MTBers dug out the lycra and in some cases the full carbon bikes 🙂 and turned up for the 3 ferries, like the 5 ferries but with less… ferries! There was no faffing and we were ready to roll when the GMBC hardcore passed on their way down from north of Glasgow, the pace was brisk all the way to Wemyss Bay. Once we had bought out all the hopscotch tickets and filled the ferry with bikes, it was time to empty the cafe of caffine – the CTC were there too, and the carradice saddle bags had to be centred to stop the boat rolling. Anyone planning to enter 10 under? I was going to maybe enter last minute if weather ok. Or even just head up for a couple days riding as got weekend off. Will have space in car if I do.
An alternative to gmbc favourite ‘5 ferries’, the 3 ferries is some of the 5 in reverse, with a nice addition of ride round bute, and an amazing descent to Dunoon. Plan to start at gourock then ride to wemyss bay, ferry to rothsay, ride round island then ferry at colintravie. Pub lunch then tough road to dunoon, the swoopy 5 mile descent is sublime and worth the pain. Ferry home to gourock and a chippy! Plan to start about 9 or earlier, total distance is about 70 miles and ferry cost around £9 total. Times and miles will be confirmed, proposed date is June 10th, any gmbc roadies interested? A road, cx or a touring bike is fine, mtb would be a bit tough I reckon.
Very tough and grippy tyre set, 700 x 28c rear and 25c front. Never punctured with these and fast enough for big road rides. Great condition, rrp £35 each, or £23 each from big al. £20 for the pair.
Looking to get a towbar for the focus and order a nice thule ride on rack. However, not sure of the DIY route now as had some competitive quotes, anyone used the following…

Thinking of a wee ride around the Glennifer Braes in Paisley tomorrow (26th Feb), plan to leave Crookston (south side) about 10am and be at the Glenburn entrance to the park in Paisley about 10.45am. Hopefully a few ‘locals’ riding too 🙂
If anyone has one of these towbar mounted carriers in very good condition, i’d be interested and pay a reasonable price. Needs to be the 3 bike version.
Now bought another car and need to sell the berlingo (2005, 2.0Hdi), looking for £2850 happy to consider realist offers and sell at a better price before MOT (due end March) or can get the car MOTed but not look to budge too much on price. Condition is very good, a few minor marks but very well looked after and FSH. Ideal for bikes – just pile them inside! very cheap to run too.
