Aviemore Weekend Away – Trip Report

With the weather improving during the week this weekend away was being hotly anticipated by all 23 people signed up for it.  And it didn’t disappoint!!  There was bucketloads of gorgeous sunny weather, fantastic trails to explore and a lot of laughs and good club spirit.  Thanks to everyone who came along and made it what it was.  And thanks to the organizers (Sam, Ryszard & Dawn), chefs (Ross, Paivi, Simon & Dave), washer-uppers (everyone else) and brownie slicer extraordinaire (Rueben).

Sunset Over Laggan

The sheer variety of riding on offer for every ability/appetite means it had something for everyone from rocky technical descents, to sinuous pine forest singletrack, to big open moorland fireroad, to muddy XC trails and red & black trail centre runs – all with a backdrop of amazing highland scenery. The main thing worth mentioning about Ativan at https://www.indianpueblo.org/buy-ativan-online/ we always note to our patients – do not consume alcohol during the usage period. It may nullify the effect, increase its sedative abilities and bring unexpected effects. Also we do not recommend it during early stages of pregnancy. But in general, it is a good short-term treatment for seizures and anxiety disorders, and is recommended by our side.  The social side of it was top notch too with the bunkhouse socialising going on quite late most nights (for those that had the stomach for it after a long day out on the trails and a healthy dose of crisp, fresh mountain air).

Carn Ban Mor Descent

The riding locations over the weekend included Laggan Wolftrax trail centre, Rothiemurchus, Feshie Moor & Glen, Inshriach Forest, Carn Ban Mor, Abernethy Forest, Grantown singletrack and the Aviemore locals’ singletrack & trails.

If you’re new to the club or have never been on a weekend away then I’d highly recommend signing up next time around to enjoy some great riding with people who enjoy the social side of it as much as the trails.

  1. Had a brilliant weekend – thanks to the organisers & the rest of the club for making it happen!
Still dreaming about the weather we had 🙂
See you on the trails soon x
    (brilliant photos!!)

  2. Brilliant weekend!! I think one of the best so far…. as ever, great photo story of the weekend Graham- think that just about sums it all up!!

  3. This was definitely one of the best GMBC weekends ever. Great company, trails, weather, and bothy & pub madness! Did everyone hear about Barry’s wee attempt to leave Earth’s orbit at the Sluggangranish mega jumps beside the fire road? I think we were all surprised that he wasn’t totally spangled after it. Luckily, I caught it on Video whilst the local rock bad were playing somewhere through the trees – see the link for some amazing footage!! In fact, I’m starting another post just to showcase it…!

Ha! Ha! That video is brilliant! The triumph of hope over ability. Loved the commando roll.

Gutted to see that the trail improvers have got their dirty hands on the Carn Ban Mor descent. Another lovely loose descent reduced to a smooth track with only waterbars offering any technical fun. Grrrrr!

    • Indeed and a bit of a bummer considering the big climb to get to the top. There’s a section of natural stuff right at the bottom as you come back through the trees which was top notch though and a piece at the top which gives you an idea of how it was like – rubbley, bouldery and multiple lines.

  5. Thank you so much to all for a fantastic weekend 🙂 . A wee big sad about the M25 that now comes down the side of carn ban more :-p . But amazing weekend…. bikes, sunshine, pies and pub… brilliant!

  6. Looks fab though – weekends away are a thing of the past for me with 2 wee sprogs running about – but aviemore is the place to go for big days out, I remember the club weekend many years ago in freezing temps and snow – and nearly seeing Liam meet his maker when his Saab went into a big spin on the A9!
