Club Social: Munro’s Pub

Hi.  Fancy a beer (or two) and some banter?  A few of us are heading along to Munro’s Pub (Great Western Road, St. Georges Cross) on 7:30pm, Fri 28th March for exactly that.  From the chat on tonight’s ride, some folks will be going for food there beforehand.  Whether you’re a new member or have been at the club for a while, it would be great to see you there.  Post up if you’re coming along.

Notice To Wednesday Night Riders

Watch out for glass in the car park at the club hall!  Also, the tea urn in the kitchen isn’t working so you may struggle to get hot water (unless you bring a kettle with you – which I resorted to tonight!).  We’ll sort out a kettle as soon as we can.  You could always sample the bar……

29er tyre advice wanted

Any advice out there on 29er tyres to find the balance between fast rolling and traction on the mud, dirt, leaves and some rocks and roots.

Continental’s Mountain Kings aren’t doing it for me, very sketchy on the corners . . . .

Chris Wood: Donations

Folks,

I realise none of you know Chris Wood (a long time friend of mine through rallying) . He had a tumble on his MTB, but instead of getting up and dusting himself off, it had life changing consequences for him.

His accident could happen to any one of us, and I’d like to think that the mountain biking community are kind and generous.

Please, i ask that you take a couple of minutes to make a small donation for Woody – the price of a pint, or a round of drinks. In the greater scheme of your life that is nothing, but for Chris many small donations will all add up and will help him move forward with his life.

His full story is in the link below.

Tuesday Ride Report

So, we had the first Tuesday night ride out of the new hall last night. I wondered how many riders we’d get after the heavy afternoon rain so congratulations to the 4 hardy riders that turned up for a scoot around the trails in the dark (Graeme B, Fraser, Helen and  Costa Del Graeme).  Special mention goes to Fraser and Helen whose first night rides it was too!  We stayed on the fairly hard surfaced stuff for the ride but there were some huge puddles and soaked feet by the time we got back to the hall but there seemed to be smiles all round too!
