You may or may not be aware of the Single Speed UK event being held at Comrie Croft at the end of August. It’s a charity event, organised by volunteers and is supporting Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). We’re actively seeking either donations to the fund raising or sponsorship support & prizes for the event itself. We have a large community of riders within GMBC and surely you know some businesses or individuals who would like to lend their support.
CRiY, is close to the hearts of many in the cycling community, former British youth cycling champion Ben Forsyth (son of Scottish world championship winning endurance mountain bike rider Keith Forsyth) lost his life to a cardiac condition at the age of 20 last year. Read the story here.
We’re overdue a club trip/social. So, why not join some GMBCers & sign up for a weekend of riding & social activities at the GMBC-sponsored Single Speed UK event Comrie Croft? What’s the plan?
Fri. 23-Aug to Sun. 25-Aug.
Friday – a couple of hours evening ride on local hills & trails – mid-ride pit stop at the pub in Comrie, return to the Croft to the onsite bar.
Saturday – “race” day, it’s a very social & relaxed event followed by food, drinks, prizes, an auction, music & even more socialising
Sunday – another few hours mellow, social riding and more banter
Onsite facilities: camping, food shop, bike shop, cafe, toilets/showers
Prizes provided by Genesis Bikes, Shand Cycles, Glenturret Whisky, Endura, Fibrax & more
Maybe Comrie Croft and surroundings, maybe Pitlochry. I’ll post up specific details and a location on Saturday after the trail maintenance. Probably a 10am start, probably a big day out. All a bit vague but let me know if you’re interested.
Another great day out! Cold wind & icy trails in places but lots of smiles and stunning blue skies. The ride had a bit of everything; fireroad, tarmac, singletrack, bog, a fat bike, llamas, and giant white wallabies – but sadly no micro-pigs. Everything you’d expect from a GMBC bike ride. Here’s a few photos:
Fancy a wee trail centre blast in Perthshire?? Comrie Croft has a selection of trails packed into a small area that should suit everyone. Flowy blues, scenic & twisty reds and a challenging black. I was surprised how rocky and tight some of the trails were so be aware that the grading here may differ to what you’re used to at the regular 7 Stanes trail centres.
It’s just west of Crieff (up the A9 north of Dunblane and turn off for Braco). The cafe facilities may be shut down for winter so take some munchies just in case. The forecast for Perthshire is looking OK for Sunday.
Hi. Planning an away ride this Sunday. Heading up to Comrie for a blast on the fun trails up there. I’ve already offered up the space in my car but if that becomes free I’ll post up on Saturday evening. Some details:
