UCI Junior Track Champs

Just a quick reminder that GMBC have 2 free tickets for the above on the 10th August. Cut-off for names is 12:00 noon tomorrow so that the draw can be made and names sent on.

Tickets include a reception and informal tour of the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

Get your names in as, at the moment, it’s me and Iain going.

Free Stuff – UCI Juniors Track Championship Tickets

We have been offered 2 free tickets for members of the club to attend, as guests of Scottish Cycling, the UCI Junior World Championships, at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, on the evening of Saturday 10th August.

We need to respond by the 9th of August with names of those attending. I would ask any club member interested to add his or her name to this post by way of a comment (on the GMBC WordPress site only). Closing date for those interested will be 12:00 noon on the 6th August. This will allow a draw to be carried out after the Tuesday 6th club ride.

There is also an opportunity for us to request additional tickets, although there is no indication of how many we might get. At this point we are tending towards requesting an additional 6 although we suspect we might not get this many. We will therefore draw 8 names (assuming we get 8 names). The first two would be those who get the two confirmed tickets with 3 – 8 being recorded in order so that if we only get one additional ticket it would go to the 3rd name drawn etc.

Time is short, so get your names down.

New 2×10 Chainrings

Bit of a stab in the dark but needing a new outer chainring.  It’s a 39t 10spd with a 4 bolt 120bcd. These seem to be like hens teeth and online prices, even in Germany, are around £55. Yes.. £55 for a chainring. Anybody any thoughts on a possible stockist. I’ve tried Alpine.

At the moment the alternative seems to be converting to a XT 2×10 chainset which I can get at a pretty reasonable price with future chainring prices a bit lower and with better supply.

Cheers,

Stuart

Glentress 7

Glentress 7

Pretty much following on from Graham’s post on riding goals for this year, I have been thinking for a while about doing an ‘event‘ to provide some kind of focus to encourage me to ride more, improve my fitness and just to do something different. I have looked at 10 Under and the Selkirk Marathon. Following on from Dene’s previous posts about the Glentress 7, this sounds like the kind of fun event that could be suitable for this first timer. Not too long, not too far away and, I suppose, not too expensive. Continue reading

New Rear Wheel

My old Deore hub / XC 717 rear wheel has finally given up the ghost and I am looking for some inspiration. I am on a budget and trying to keep the cost under £100 if possible, so a spangly Hope wheel is unfortunately out of the question. Can get XT hub with XC 717 rims within my budget from Merlin. Any alternative suggestions / thoughts.
