Menteiths / Aberfoyle – Sunday 18th May 10:00

It’s on the club calender but I thought I’d bump it up a bit.

As I recall, the riding isn’t particularly technical so would be suitable for new members or those who are GMBC curious. So come along if you fancy an accessible GMBC away ride. As always the route will take account of the abilities of those who turn up and the pace will be that of the slowest rider.

Post up on the calendar entry if you’re coming along.

New Frame for Daughter’s Bike

During a recent trip to Aviemore I came to the conclusion that my daughter’s bike is too small. (Only seems like yesterday that I bought it.)
While I might go down the route of a totally new bike, I have a hardtail in the garage which has much better transmission, wheels and fork than I am likely to get within our budget. The possibility of transferring the serviceable kit from the hardtail to a new small frame to make a lightish bike appeals.
So, has anybody any thoughts on a frame that would be suitable. Probably looking at a 15” / xs 26” wheel frame. Budget up to around £150 – £200.
Had a quick look on On-One but not sure my wife would be keen on my daughter riding around on an In Bred 😯 , while the Scandal seems to have been discontinued.
Of course if our excellent sponsor Dales had anything suitable then that would be great 😉

Sunday Ride – Carron Valley 10:00

I’m sure that there will be a local Sunday ride from the club on Sunday morning at 09:00. I’m thinking of something likely to be a little drier and less muddy though, so heading off to Carron Valley.

If you’ve not been before it isn’t the most technical of centres so would be ideal for those new to mountain biking or simply looking for somewhere that they can do a few loops without too much thought. I’ll be there and will be riding from 10:00. All welcome.

Sunday 19th January 10:00am – First Ride from Our New Home

Sunday the 19th January will be the first GMBC ride from our new home at the Milngavie & Bearsden Sports Club (MBSC) here;

All existing, past and potential members are invited to come along at 10:00 for a ride around our local trails. We would particularly extend the invitation to those who came to see what we are about at the GMBC / Dales launch night on Tuesday. You will be made most welcome and the ride(s) will be tailored to the abilities of those who turn up. Not to mention the weather and trail conditions.

To mark the first ride from MBSC we will be meeting back at the club for tea, biscuits and a bit of chat so that we can all get a feel for what facilities will be on offer.

There is ample parking and there will be bike washing facilities available.

Sunday Morning Ride

It’s been a long week and I fancy a ride out on Sunday morning. Mugdock is likely to be pretty boggy and so fancy somewhere that might be dryish. Anyone fancy a trip to Cathkin or Carron Valley. Aim for a 10am start, but flexible.
