Hi – who’s riding this week? Which night? I’m planning on a Tuesday ride, usual place, 7pm.

Pitlochry Ride: Sat. 26th Oct
I’m planning to head back up to Pitlochry to ride some of the trails Chris, Ieva and I had a look at a few weeks ago. The autumn colours should be in full flow. The ride is a good mix of forest and open moorland with plenty of singletrack and epic scenery. The mid-ride pub stop is pretty good too! I’m meeting Chris J up there, so who’s up for joining us?

Saturday Ride: Mugdock
I can’t make the Sunday ride so here’s a similar option for the Saturday. Route dependent on those present, involving a cafe stop at some point. No helmet, no ride.
Peak District Weekend Trip: 2 spaces available
In previous years we’ve often had a weekend away near the start of November, usually up north. This year, for a change, we’re heading south……. to the Peak District. We have 2 of the best mountain bike guides from the area to show us some of the best trails – our very own Paivi & Dave!
The accommodation has been booked already and there are 2 spaces remaining. It’s first come, first served for these spaces. If you want a space then post up here. Dawn has booked farmhouse/cottage type accommodation in Tideswell for 3 nights – 8th to 11th November. Currently the cost is £50 for the 3 nights but this may come down if there are 2 more takers for the spare beds. This doesn’t include any food for the weekend though.
If the spaces get taken but you’re still interested in coming along then we can give you details of the location if you want to look for your own accommodation. More details of the trip:
Dumyat Sunday Ride
Sorry if it’s short notice but Barry and I are heading over to Stirlingshire to ride Dumyat & the surroundings. Details on the event page for the ride…….
Winter Trail Centre Rides
As we get into late autumn and through into winter I’m planning a regular monthly excursion to some trail centres, probably at the end of each month. We don’t tend to ride trail centres that often (with the exception of Cathkin perhaps) as there’s so many great natural trails to explore but trail centres have their place, especially in a Scottish winter.
So, where would you like to ride this autumn/winter? There’s a few obvious favourites but perhaps you know of a few, less familiar all-weather trails – post them up and I’ll add them to the list.
Change To Big Annual Lakes Trip Dates
Hi Folks. To avoid a clash with SMBO and enduro events and so that we can meet up with friends from Walkers Cycling we’re moving the Big Annual Lakes Trip forward one week to the weekend of 19th & 20th October. This is the same weekend that we did it last year. The plan is to base ourselves in the Ambleside area. We’ll be staying for the Friday and Saturday nights with a big ride on the Saturday and a 3-4hour ride on the Sunday.
For anyone who has already expressed an interest (Robin, Nick, Grant maybe) please can you check you’re free that weekend and let me know if you’re still interested? And to anyone else who hasn’t committed yet now’s yer chance, if you can let me know by Thursday3rd October as I’ll be booking accommodation shortly after then.
Pitlochry Photos
Chris, Ieva and myself went up to Pitlochry for a bit of route finding on Saturday. It turned out to be a fantastic day. As predicted, a few wrong turns and some map reading challenges but we had amazing weather, mainly dry trails, lots of singletrack and stunning views. I’ll plan a return trip in the next few weeks. In the meantime, here’s a few photos to whet your appetites.
