GMBC Christmas Social

Hi Folks.  Right then, who fancies a drink?  ‘Tis the season etc.  What could be better than to meet up with a bunch of like-minded folks and talk nonsense over a beer/cider/wine/whisky (or all of the above).  Like last year, we’ll dispense with the hassle of a meal and go straight to the business of liquid refreshments.  Here’s the plan:

  • When: Saturday 14th Dec, 7:30pm
  • Where:  Curlers Rest pub (downstairs), on Byres Road, beside Hillhead underground station
  • Who: anyone; old club members, new members, ex-members, prospective members.  All welcome.

Please post up if you’re able to make it along.  Cheers!

Iain Clow – accident at Cathkin

Iain had a tumble off his bike at cathkin yesterday. He was transferred to from Hairmyers to monklands and underwent surgery today. They have reset his broken nose, stitched both lips back into place and he has several stitches over his face. All things considered he has been very lucky. Its likely he will get home tomorrow, be off work for 2 weeks and it will take 6 weeks for his face to be back to normal- its currently twice its size.  Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Anyone want to organise a whip-round for a set of stabilisers…?

Pete

Audax in 2014

Seeing as it’s got very cold and thoughts are turning to 2014 I thought I would post this. I did a couple of these last year (along with Ross) and they were excellent.

I’m pretty keen on the 400km and the Rivers, Lochs and Glens.  Anyone want to join me? All are really cheap (£2 for the 400km!).

Brief update since AGM

Hi all,

My apologies for the delay in sending this, to be honest I was wanting to wait until next week before posting as the committee are meeting on Thursday to further discuss the new additions into the club.  We’ll post more info soon, but just to give you a heads up of the two main topics of discussion at the AGM; Continue reading

Club Members and Facebook

A private GMBC members group has been set up on Facebook, and all paid up members should have received an invite today to join from one of the Admins.

People who aren’t registered as having current membership wont be able to see or join this, but the other GMBC Facebook group remains open to all, although membership of the open group is still moderated.

If you aren’t on Facebook don’t worry, WordPress and club mail remain other principal methods of communicating – you won’t miss out on anything (apart from maybe some of the online chat)

Cheers

Iain

A Big Thank You!

A message from my family:
“Mike & Liz Anderton would like to thank the members of GMBC and Walkers Cycling who helped Graham when he became ill during the recent Lakes weekend. John and Robin were invaluable in getting him to hospital and getting his car back to Glasgow and Eilidh’s carrot cake was the best prescription! Thanks to all the club members who have been in touch by phone, text, email and visits for helping to keep his spirits up, also being helped in no small measure by the occasional piece of Dawn’s chocolate brownie!”
