Alpine Club Night – Tuesday 28th of June

Hi all,

Alpine Bikes at St Georges Cross are running a club night for our paid members next Tuesday (I know that a large majority of our members actually ride on that day…..so see below).

They are offering 20% off parts, accessories, clothing etc and 10% off new bikes.  The shop closes as normal at 6pm, but re-opens 6.30pm – 9.30pm for our members.

As the Tuesday riders will miss out, we have agreed with Alpine that if you are to order anything before the club night, pay a deposit, they’ll run it through with the discounts applied on the Tuesday.  So you can in theory, show up today and purchase an item and the discount will be honoured.  Unfortunately, they won’t be able to take orders with that discount applied after the 28th of June.  So fill yer boots!

It’s a great chance to meet a few of the new faces in the team and build relationships with these guys.

Regards

Barry

Rides This Week & Tuesday Ride Report

Tuesday Ride Report:

Route: the Whangie, relatively dry conditions and a great night for it – except for Stuart who managed to land in the mud on the way down.   16 riders out. A puncture and a disintegrating rear mech before even leaving the car park made for a late-ish start.  3 more punctures and Bradley’s tumble near the end meant we weren’t back until after 10pm.  Despite the mechanicals and a few falls it seemed like everyone who was out had a great ride and it was the first time up the Whangie for a few folks.  If anyone who was taking pictures can post a few that would be great.

Rides This Week:

Wednesday introductory ride:  Local Ride, departs St Andrews Hall Car Park, Milngavie, 7pm

NB: Mix up in the calendar.  The Old Kilpatricks was on the calendar for this week but some folks did it last week.  So, suggesting……..

Wednesday ride:  The Whangie, departs St Andrews Hall Car Park, Milngavie, 7:45pm

Thursday ride:  Road ride, departs St Andrews Hall Car Park, Milngavie, 6:30pm prompt. Duration: 1.5 – 2hrs – Please post if you are doing this as Simon won’t be out as he’s not well just now (hope you get well soon Simon!).

Sunday:  Local Ride, departs St Andrews Hall Car Park, Milngavie, 9am – or, alternatively, suggest a ride for Sunday!

shortest night ride

Well it is nearly that time of the year again. so here is an idea for some mid summer madness. Saturday 18th June leave Milngavie for sunset in the west from The Wangie then over to the east to Knockie Buckle for sunrise, weather permitting, then breakfast.
Alternative, even roadie/crossbike suggestions welcome
see you
Chris

Thursday road ride?

Anyone thinking of a road ride, weather looks great. I am working a but later this week so takes a while to get home from Hamilton – could be up for another South Side Ride at about 7pm. If not, may be able to get train up to Milngavie. However would prefer to keep it ‘local’ (Crookston local that is!). Could do a wee singletrack road mega climb up back of the Glennifer braes (taking high road that follows Lugton route), then Uplawmoor, Dunlop and back via Neilston descent to Barrhead.

Anyone fancy the Westy?

There’s a good chance I’ll be leaving Glasgow at the end of August, so I need to make as much of the location as possible between now and then. The logical mini-adventure ride that comes to mind is to take in some of the West Highland Way and I was wondering if anyone was up for it?

Two main possibilities:

  • Drive/train part of the way up and come back down, in a day.
  • Do the whole thing over 2/3 days.

So, who’s in (or even interested)? Might have to do a few away days as “training” too 🙂
