Lakes Loop

Believe it or not, the weather looks good for next weekend, at least at the moment. So if you are not doing the CRC Selkirk marathon here is an alternative. It is 150 miles with big climbs some hike-bikey mostly off road. 3 long days would be good going but so would 4 days, leaving early on friday. The idea would pick up B&B/hostels along the way to keep things flexible and travel very light. Al (no helmet) is interested but we are going to take a rain check on wednesday.
Sorry about short notice

Saturday pub ride

Hi all.
Back by popular demand.  The second social “Saturday pub run” of the year.
The date selected, so put in your diaries now, is the 10th of September and that will be 2011.  As it is in September the weather may throw a wobbly.  So this trip will be even more weather dependant than the last one.  In other words if it’s pouring it will be cancelled.
The distance clocked on the last one was 26 miles, not including the single track at the start, so there is a bit of cycling involved.  It’s not all chatting and drinking.
I am looking at adding, at least, one more pub on this one so the stops would be.  Carbeth Inn, Blane Valley Inn, Glazert Hotel,(or Swan Inn) Kinkaid House Hotel, The Stables, Weatsheaf Inn and finally finishing off in Milngavie at Cyan.
Bear in mind the usual stuff about Pubs sell more than just beer.  You can have soft drinks, tea, coffee etc.  (On the last trip we did find it hard to get a scone for Phil so scones are off unless you bring your own.)  We will set off at 10 am.
You are welcome to join for as little, or as much, of the trip as you wish depending on the time you have available.
This social event is about having fun, a lot of laughs, good food, camaraderie and a bit of cycling thrown in for good measure.
Make sure, if you are doing the whole thing, that you have planned to be out most of the day as time flies when you are having fun.
All the best.
Groundskeeper John
