soggy wednesday 2 – Kilpatricks

4 of us met up at the Bowling Basin carpark: Euan/Superlight, Euan/Boardman; Dean/Lapierre and me. Euan SL lead us off to a path between the garage and pub behind the houses and then on to the Crags Circular path. The instant climb quickly warmed us up as we headed up behind the quarry. Great views over the Clyde and sunshine promised, butdidn’t happen. We continued to climb up through the trees with me trailing behind and then out along to Loch Humfrey where it started to get wet as we headed back to the Crags path. Dean now led us down the now very wet grassy fast path. So difficult to see though our mud spattered eyes, was our only complaint. We then climbed around Overtoun House and down that narrow rutted path into the houses. All the climbs were well worth it, the best fun I have had in the mud and rain for a while.

Soggy Wednesday !

Well that was a bit of a shock to the system after the dryish trails of the weekend.  Only 5 of us out, including 2 new to the club riders, Dave and Eilidh.  The heavy clouds were threatening from the very start so PistolPete led us off on a wee 25 min loop of the urban trails, back round to the trails just after the bombhole, where we proceeded up through the new section beside the old quarry, out through Hole in the Wall and played around on Voodoo.  Dave did a cracking face first mud slide down the grassy bank and we all managed a few dabs and slithers along the top trail, before much hilarlity negotiating a claggy claggy claggy John’s -).  Down the muddy rhoddy descent and up Snakey, at which time the heavens really opened.  It was only about half 9 but getting dark and decidedly yeuch, so a wee play around the lowish sections of Drumclog Moor and a hasty retreat back down Snakey etc to be back at the club just before 10.  Nice being out, but a big bundle of soggy kit in the wash – just like a winter Wednesday night really -)

shortest night ride

Well it is nearly that time of the year again. so here is an idea for some mid summer madness. Saturday 18th June leave Milngavie for sunset in the west from The Wangie then over to the east to Knockie Buckle for sunrise, weather permitting, then breakfast.
Alternative, even roadie/crossbike suggestions welcome
see you
Chris

Tuesday Ride 7th June

Great ride tonight. Slippy, wet , boggy and a laugh. Rocky/rooty then riverside, up the westie , up Rosies and into Clifftop then through the very boggy’Lots o grunts’ before finishing with the windmill track. Acrobatic falls on Rocky(No names), over the bar face plants in the bog(Again, no names) and general slipping and sliding around all added up to a great night out. One of the best nights i’ve had in months. Thanks to all 14 riders who were out tonight,i’m going to my pit with a smile on my face.

GMBC BBQ – Head Count

Hello all,

This is the final role call for all those who haven’t yet informed me via wordpress reply.  We’ll be buying the food and drink later in the week,  so an idea of numbers would be appreciated to ensure we’ve brought enough.

So far, I count 13 including myself from the replies.  I know that there may be more coming from discussions on Saturday, but a show of hands would be a great help.

I’m open for suggestions to ride times too.  The BBQ kicks off at 6pm, but by the time it’s heated up and we’ve faffed, we’ll probably be eating around 7pm.  I’m up for heading off from the visitor car park around 3pm if anyone wishes to join me?

Regards

Barry
