Following Simon’s post of fb I am going to Leckies in Falkirk tomorrow pm to pick up my jacket. If anyone else wants to order one, I can pick up theirs too.
I’ve just added this ride to the calender. Post in the calender link if you fancy it.
Here is a plug for it – www.glasgowrealalefestival.co.uk/
and a friend’s brew – www.jawbrew.co.uk/
see you there on Friday?
Just 30mins climbing got Dave and I to the top of the Devil’s Staircase followed by the descent down to the land rover track where we met up with 3 riders. It turned out they were doing the Westie they lost their fourth rider on the jump off the bridge heading towards Rowardennan. Turns out the had ridden with Doug McDonald in Basque. We then ‘cheated’ and rode up on top of the water pipes. The Ciaran Path bit early, by swallowing Dave’s front wheel. I was experimenting with flatties and managed to bounce off the bike, that’s my excuse. 1 hr of downhill singletrack, doesn’t get much better. A quick coffee and cake stop at the Ice Factory fired us up for the climb out of Kinlochleven. Last time I did the route It broke my bike and I had to walk back, I am please to say this time it was only damaged.
I can’t do Sunday but I was wondering if there was any interest in a ride on Saturday or even Monday? Suggestions: Glen Tilt loop; Devil’s Staircase & Ciaran Path; Tour de Ben Nevis or Southern Upland Way around Wanlockhead or ???
Myself, Ali and Al arrived at Chalet la Combe in Morzine to be met with a startled owner who was clearly not expecting us. What was worse, the stack of cases in the lounge looked as though other guests had just arrived in front of us. Luckily it turned out that the cases were the owner’s and Jan was a fantastic cook and host. http://www.bedbreakfastweb.com/host.cgi?id=506 As we didn’t bring a bleed kit with us, we were carrying all our gear for 2weeks in our 20L packs, it was off to a bike shop to sort out my rear brake. Turns out I wasn’t the only one off that flight in the queue with a defective brake.
I have double booked myself (Torridon weekend) so I have a free entry for this great event. I did it last year – great scenery, quiet roads, lovely food and well organised. http://drumlanrigchallenge.btck.co.uk/ There are still extra places left too.
The final deposit is paid see attached receipt. Bunkhouse Confirmation (2)
The Event/Calender post http://www.gmbc.org.uk/event/skye-easter-weekend/ with who is coming or not and also day/ride suggestions have been updated. Ive suggested Quiraing loop at Staffin on friday hopefully that suits all that want to do it, if not let me know? I was trying to avoid doing it on monday as it is more driving.
