Any Local Rides This Weekend?

Hi, is anyone riding locally this weekend, possibly Sunday? I’m asking because there’s a visitor from the US (Mitch) who’s asking if he can join us this weekend. I’m busy so won’t be out locally but if you’re riding please can you let me know and I’ll put you in touch with Mitch, if he hasn’t already joined up on Facebook. I’ve given him a few options for renting bikes locally, including Dales Cycles. Hope the friendly GMBC massive can help out. Thanks.

BREAKING NEWS: x1 Hostel Space for 7 Lochs/3 Ways Ride

Hi folks – one of the riders for this weekend’s 7 Lochs, 3 Ways ride has pulled out of the overnight stay (Saturday 9th May) so we have x1 bed spare in the dorm room at the Inversnaid Bunkhouse.  Costs involved are: £20-ish for the hostel, £9 for the ferry crossing to Inversnaid, £whatever for food & drink over the weekend.  There’s no baggage transfer so you’ll need to carry whatever clothing etc you need for the weekend.

First come, first served.  Email me or post up here.

10am start from Balloch train station to catch the 5:15pm ferry to Inversnaid and (probably) a 9am start from Inversnaid on Sunday.

3 Lochs Ride

Hi. It’s a 10am depart from Balloch this Saturday. The 5 of us who are doing the overnight part of it have a ferry to catch from Inveruglas so we need to be prompt. The 10am start should allow enough time for a brief stop in Helensburgh and a slightly longer one in Arrochar.

Any day trippers joining us have options to return from Arrochar via the Loch Lomond cycle path or Tarbert via the train or Inveruglas via road/cycle path or by cutting down to Garelochhead.

It’s cross bike compatible but the recent wet weather may have made some bits muddy and there were a few rocky sections on a fireroad but generally nothing hugely technical.

Day 1: approx 64km to Inveruglas
Day 2: approx 68km back to Glasgow

If you have any questions then please let me know.

Aviemore Weekend Away & Photos

Hi.  Well, what a weekend!  Thanks to all for making it another great trip.  Lots of great riding on all types of trail including flowy trail centres, epic Cairngorm loops and uber-techy natural trails.  The fun continued from the trails into the hostel with some great banter and the usual huge spread of food.  It was great to see so many of our newer riders getting a taste of what a GMBC trip away is all about.  If you missed it, or you were there and want to re-live the glory, then here’s a few photos:

Easter Trip Update

Hi.  2 weeks to go before the final payment is due for the bunkhouse. Thanks to those who’ve paid up already, namely: Gav, John & Helen, Myriam, Angus, Gillian, Eilidh, Thomas, Sam and Tim C.

If you think you’ve missed out on a place then either sign up or drop me an email so I can add you to the list as we may have some spaces become available.

Glentress/Selkirk This Weekend

There’s a few of us heading down to Glentress/Selkirk for the weekend.  It’s primarily for the Bowhill duathlon on the Sunday but my plan is to head down to Glentress on Saturday for a bit of a play about.  I won’t be riding the black if I’ve got a race the next day.

Post up if you fancy coming along on the Saturday.  We also have 3 spaces in the bunkhouse (which is a 15min cycle from GT) if you want to make it a 2 day trip to Glentress.  The hostel is about £20 for the night, payable at the hostel.
