New Zealand Travels!

Anyone got ideas, advice, top things to do and see lists for New Zealand??

I’m going out for a few weeks, through December and returning mid January. Will be based in Wellington so will travel to the best bits for Walking, Riding, Diving, Exploring and generally having fun. Opportunity of a lifetime so got to make every second count.

Cheers

Alternative to Alpkit Gordon 20L

My rucksack has gone trekking to Machu Picchu, unfortunately the invitation wasn’t extended to me. So I am looking for a replacement for my Alpkit Gordon and they don’t have any stock other than flo yellow till December.

Any lightweight dry sack for around £25 would be appreciated

Thanks

2015 Club Tops- Update and for Sale

There are a few folks still needing to pick up their club kit. If you are one of them let me know and we can make arrangements.

We ordered a number of spare tops and these are now available for those who missed the original order. In addition, the manufacturing issue with the short sleeve jerseys has left us with a number of small sized jerseys which are now surplus. As the club has not had to pay for these, and due to the limited number of folk they will fit, they are being sold off at a discounted rate. The available club kit and prices are as follows:

Mens Short Sleeve ¾ Zip  – 5 small (£15 each), 4 medium, 1 large, 1 xx-large, 1 xxx-large (all £41.62)

Mens Long Sleeve full zip – 1 small, 1 large (£59.36 each)

Unisex MTB ¾ sleeve – 1medium, 1 large (£56.30 each)

Let me know if you are interested in any of the above.

As with the original order if you are a paid up member you will, receive a £10 discount on your order. £10 refunds are currently being distributed on Tuesday nights.

 Thanks

Stuart

Curry & Quiz Night

After the success of the last one, Fiona at Milngavie & Bearsden Sports Club is organising another curry & quiz night (Saturday 3rd October, £15 per person) and has asked that we advertise it.  GMBC members are more than welcome.  Tables of 8 but odd numbers are OK.

If you’re interested please post up here.  I can’t make it so someone will need to take the lead and get numbers to Fiona (I can put you in touch with her).  Event details are here:

GPS Map Help!

Looking for advice and help using an Android mobile as my GPS. Currently have Endomondo as the Trail/Route app but they don’t use OS maps, so there is no detail, just white and green spaces.

Thanks to a GMBC post I signed up for the free, 3 month OS subscription! Installed the OS Mapfinder on my mobile. I can now see all the UK on my laptop, create routes and export them to mobile but I cant get the 1:25000 OS maps onto my mobile! I need maps on my mobile rather than constant uploading of data as most of the places I go have no mobile coverage!

Any ideas for easy OS map use on an Android so I can see where I am and plot the trail i’ve ridden? Forget OS and use Viewranger? Forget the mobile and buy a GPS?
