Ben Gullipen ‘MTB Madness’ Time Trial Aug 19th Callander
Just read about this – http://www.skidaddle.org.uk/
”You’ll need uphill legs, a downhill head and a bike and helmet that can do both.
The race features a mass start from the bottom before ascending approx. 5km to the top of Ben Gullipen along the forestry tracks and paths. After a break at the top it’s an individual time-trial descent in the sequence and time intervals that you arrived at the top.
This will make it a real race to the bottom!
Entry is open to all abilities although you’ll want a certain level of fitness to enjoy the ride up and a certain level of bike handling skills to manage the descent.”
One for the folks staying up in Callander and looking for something to do next weekend.
You get to ride up Cock Hill, phnar, phnar….

Forecast to be sunny, sunny, sunny.
Meet at top of Old Drove Road/Quarry Road, Cambusbarron. Ready to ride at 6.30pm.
Let me know if you fancy it and/or need a lift.

Away Ride Saturday 11 August – Glencoe?
Hi,
Does anyone fancy doing a good away ride next Saturday? I was thinking of starting in Glencoe, up the Devil’s Staircase, along the Blackwater Dam, Ciaran Path to Kinlochleven and back via WHW. So it would be a reasonably tough day out and plenty of opportunity to drag brakes and mince down steep slopes.

Leaving Crookston around 6.45pm (Barrhead Rd / Crookston Rd) junction about 6.50pm. 25 miles via Barrhead, Gateside, Braes, descend to Howood and return via Paisley. Any takers? there will be at least 3 or 4 on ride so far, pace quick but not fast if you know what I mean! 🙂
Sunday Away Ride (29th)
Hiya,
I’ve forgotton what my MTB looks like! Would really like to get away somewhere on sunday. Anyone else up for something? Maybe even a trail centre to keep away from the Mud? Not been to Ae for ages… but don’t really mind where.

25th Weekender – Accommodation Payment & Update
The good news is there looks to be a great turn out for the weekend’s celebrations in August!! Last time we had said payment would be based on numbers coming, so taking this into account, plus the non-members who are coming, the costs are as follows:
Members- £16 per person per night (which includes continental brekkie, remember!)
Non – Members- £20 per person per night (brekkie still included)
southside road ride – thursday
If the tour has inspired some skinny tyre action feel free to hook up with the Southside roadride, hope to be more regular again, riding from Crookston at 6.45pm, will head along to Hurlet, passing Toby inn about 7, then through paisley. Ride about 30ish miles into renfrewshire, 2 hrs approx.
Sunday Road Ride.
My MTB’s are either broken or unavailable. I would be posting a MTB ride otherwise – honest.
Anyway, anyone fancy joining me for this: http://www.gmbc.org.uk/event/sweet-road-ride/
By far and away my (local-ish)favorite area to road ride: fantastic scenery, proper hardcore climbs and *gasp* mostly decent roads with few cars.
There’s a few route options to add climbs/make it shorter.
I’ll not be back on the computer for a few days so maybe’s text me on: Zero seven nine, eight one eight one, five zero, eight two.
