Ben Gullipen ‘MTB Madness’ Time Trial Aug 19th Callander

Just read about this – http://www.skidaddle.org.uk/

”You’ll need uphill legs, a downhill head and a bike and helmet that can do both.

The race features a mass start from the bottom before ascending approx. 5km to the top of Ben Gullipen along the forestry tracks and paths. After a break at the top it’s an individual time-trial descent in the sequence and time intervals that you arrived at the top.
This will make it a real race to the bottom!

Entry is open to all abilities although you’ll want a certain level of fitness to enjoy the ride up and a certain level of bike handling skills to manage the descent.”

One for the folks staying up in Callander and looking for something to do next weekend.

You get to ride up Cock Hill, phnar, phnar….

Ben Lomond – Wednesday 27th June

After Chris’s post and a quick scratch of the head I though it might be a idea to head up the Ben next Wednesday. Given that we have daylight until pretty late we should be able to descend in day/twilight.

Unless its chucking it, it’ll be a decent wee night ride. If its raining then I’ll look at a plan B option. Planning to meet at Rowardennan Pier car park ready to ride at 6.30pm.

I’ll pop it in the calendar if there’s enough of a show of hands. Kev and I are in so far.

Aviemore routes?

Kev and I are heading up to Aviemore next weekend for a friend’s stag and taking our bikes. Plan is to get some riding in before we get completely mashed. We fancy some big hills with some big downs but dont want to come back completely knackered and disappoint the stag.

Any ideas folks? (Sanny, I’m expecting a big long list : )

Right then, who fancies joining me and making up a team of 3?

Its a pretty easy course and fantastically organised event. The sun usually shines (can’t promise that though) and the pit banter is great. Oh, and theres usually a bbq, beer and whisky there too. A team of 3 is great as you get a chance to refuel and you always have someone to chat to before your next lap. All the info’s here

C’mon you know you want to…

Glentress on Sunday anyone?

Given that the weather has played havoc with so many forests and paths I’m planning a trip to the relative clear and well drained centre that is Glentress on Sunday. I’m heading down ready to ride for about 10.30 am. Do holler if you fancy it, the more the merrier. Probably riding a mixture of trails dependant on conditions etc. Meet you in the new caff.

cheers
