Trail Maintenance: 16th April Session

This coming weekend’s planned session will be based at Milngavie Golf Club (instead of Khyber field as previously advertised).

We’ll be working to repair the surface of the path that runs beside the golf club car park.  It’s part of the Clyde Coastal Path and the surface has become rutted with water running off the car park.  The drainage issue has been resolved and East Dunbartonshire council have already supplied the gravel surfacing.  We’ll be needing to move the gravel onto the path and compact the surface.  Hope to see you there for another great trail maintenance session.

Details of the session including a link to sign up for volunteering for 16/4 session can be found here:

NB: we’ll need to put one final session into the calendar to do the work up at Khyber field but I’ll advise a date for that once the park ranger has confirmed her availability.

Carn Ban Mor / Laggan

If anyone fancies it I’m heading up tomorrow (Sat 9th) to do (weather and stream heights permitting) Carn Ban Mor and then drive across to play at Laggan for a while.

I will be setting off at 10am prompt (with some food) from the car park up Glen Feshie. Post here if you are interested.  I have one space in the car currently, free petrol for anyone that comes along as I’m just running an errand really.

I need to be done by 4pm as I’m picking my daughter up at the cafe in Laggan at that time.

Post here or on the thread of Facebook if you’re interested.

Path Maintenance: 09-Apr

Hi.  As we didn’t get enough volunteers for 02-Apr we’re rescheduling to Saturday 09-Apr.  We need about 8 people to wheelbarrow and shovel gravel onto a worn path beside the golf club car park down towards the Allander.  It’s part of the Clyde Coastal Path so we’re doing some repairs which will benefit the wider community as well as fixing up a path we often use.

If you’re free to help out then please email info[AT]gmbc[DOT]org[DOT]uk

Pitlochry Ride (Sunday 03-Apr)

A few of us are heading up to Pitlochry tomorrow to do the Loch Bhac route. Meeting in Pitlochry for 10:30 and riding as soon after that as possible. Take some food just in case but the last time we managed a food stop in Blair Atholl.

The route is a mix of singletrack, fireroad and moorland with some great views (hopefully). It’ll take about 6 hours and there’s an option to bail out to Pitlochry after lunch if you don’t fancy more great riding. Take responsibility for checking the weather yourself and deciding on the appropriate clothing for the ride. Any questions then post up here or drop me a text.

Additional Path Maintenance Session Needed

East Dunbartonshire Council have provided some gravel to Milngavie Golf Course which is for the section of Clyde Coastal Path beside the golf club and leading to their car park.  This piece of trail is the rutted one just down from the golf club where the railway sleeper bridge has recently been replaced.  We’re looking for volunteers to shovel and compact the gravel onto the path.

Ideally it’ll be sometime after Easter but before the next session (16-Apr).  We’re thinking 02-Apr.  Are you free to help out that day or can you suggest an alternative date that you are free to help?  6-8 people is probably enough.  To volunteer either post up here or email info[AT]gmbc[DOT]org[DOT]uk

Intro Ride 23-March

Hi.  As myself and Ryszard can’t make this week’s Intro ride (Wednesday 7pm) then, unless someone else wants to step up to host it, assume it’s cancelled for this week and the next Intro ride will be Wed. 31-March.

Snake Pass Improvements

A big thank you to Angus, Andrew, Ross B, Chris and Pete & sons and the Park Rangers for working on the lower section of Snake Pass/Snakey to fix the ruts and drainage problems.  From a test ride down it yesterday it felt solid and smooth.  Hopefully the work we’ve done will keep water off the path and any water that makes it on to the path will be diverted off.

The next maintenance session is planned for Sat. 16-April and will be up in the Khyber area of the park.

Here’s a few photos from Saturday’s effort for you to enjoy:
