2012 Introductory Rides Posted

I’ve posted up the early Wednesday introductory rides on the club calendar.  These are chilled out rides aimed at riders who are either new to the sport or the club and they run from May until August.  The rides start at 7pm on the Wednesday.

We need volunteers to host the rides, ideally 2 existing club members per ride.  If you want to put your name down to host (or attend) a ride then please use the comments at the bottom of each calendar event to do that.

Sunday local ?

I am going road riding on Sun in a vain attempt to get fit for Etape, however one of my work colleagues, Louise, is keen to join the 9 am ride if anyone is heading out.  She has ridden Mugdock a few times but doesn’t know routes on her own.  If anyone is heading out can you post up/text me on 07810 153666 and I will pass on.

Thanks

Saturdays Social Pub Run

There have been a few call offs from some of the regular riders to attend the social pub run which was planned for this Saturday, so it might be a good idea to post your name up if you still want to go ahead with the day out. If not, then it’s hoped to reschedule it for June when hopefully the weather will be warmer and more folks can make it.

Sat 9am Campsie Road Ride – Leave the Late

Short notice. Myself & Simon are doing a Campsie road ride Saturday morning (31st March). Leaving Lenzie at 09:00 prompt (Woodilee Traffic Lights/Garngaber Road). Riding to that start of the Tak (canal bank) to start climbing at 09:30 prompt. Alison will be heading out before us so will we be aiming to catch her up. Turning left at top of Tak towards Carron Valley windfarm road, then round windfarm road, descend Tak then return to Lenzie for 11:30. Hope to see some of you tommorrow. The times are ready-to-ride times and both myself & Simon have stuff on during the afternoon so we cannot spend time faffing around. The call tommorrow will be Leave the Late.

Glen Tilt/Beinn A Ghlo tomorrow Wednesday 28th March

INSANITY – Glen Tilt – Beinn a Ghlo – you know it makes sense.

I have, at short notice, managed to get tomorrow off – last day of summer…..!

I am based in Dublane during the week, so intend to make an early start from the car park at ‘Old Bridge of Tilt’.

I remember bagging the Munros here, and my first ever walk of any stature in Scotland, in 1988, was indeed Glen Tilt.

I will be doing the Phil McKane 54km circumnavigation of Beinn a Ghlo route (and bringing said book with me), and will aim for a 9.00am start.  If anyone wants to chum me I can extend the start time to 10.ooam!

If there’s anyone who wants to make the most of the stunning weather, low river for crossing, and appreciate one of the worlds most stunning locations, the dancing sunlight on the water, and a quick pint at the end, and if you can swing a day off at ridiculously short notice, then I’m on

Cheers – Nigel
