A reminder of the Blair Atholl ride in the calendar for this coming Sunday.
And the ride report for this route from earlier in the year….
Hi, just a quick reminder about Sunday’s back-to-back rides:
Start time in Cambusbarron is 09:30, we need to be away promptly to allow enough time for photos, chat & faff on the ride so we make it to Bridge of Allan station for 1pm. If we finish North Third in time then you should have a chance to grab something to eat before the Dumyat ride but remember, the first 30-45mins is climbing so leave the fish supper until later!
If you’re only doing the afternoon/Dumyat part of the ride then post up here so I can let you know if we’re running behind schedule.
Get your names down for this…

This was my first enduro & I would recommend it to anyone that’s had doubts on whether or not to race. This will get you hooked! It’s a super fun event whether your a keen a racer or out for a laugh.
Everyone rides the course blind, there is no practice… I remember this being pretty scary, what if there’s a 7 foot drop?! There wont be…if in doubt roll it out… most in the club will manage these trails. At the end of the day, it’s how fast you take that risk 🙂 it’s very addictive. Just go for it!
I’ll be heading over & if the terms and conditions are concrete you could be chasing a flamingo through the woods…

Yes folks, it’s not long until the (in)famous annual knees up that is the GMBC Christmas party.
Who can forget (or remember!) such fantastic moments from previous years as the glorious GMBC dancefloor takeover of 2014, the comedy disguise photobooth, Katie O’s shot bar olympics, the Angus MacSween stair climb challenge and eating and drinking everything Siempre Bicycle Cafe had to offer. Well, it’s time to get booked in for another evening of fun and games……
Siempre Bicycle Cafe (beside Kelvinhall tube station) are welcoming us back with more lovely food and cold drinks (maybe tea for Tom W!) on Saturday 10th December. It’s a 3 course meal for £19.95 (not including drinks). It’s open to GMBC members plus a guest. Places are limited so book & pay up by Fri 02-Dec to guarantee a space. We’re managing the booking via WebCollect and you can find all the specific details in this event page:
Hope you can make it.
Belatedly, what a crackin’ day the SMBO event turned out to be! The feedback from the competitors was really positive; a great course, a well organised HQ, great prizes and great soup and cakes. Hopefully it’ll spur some folks on to try an SMBO event next year or to help out if we organise another one in the future.
A big thank you needs to go to Tenn Outdoors (shorts and snoods) and Dales Cycles (goodie bags) and various club members for supplying prizes for the event, Bullands Coffeehouse and Andrew Smith’s wife for supplying the soup. There’s a lot of work beforehand, on the day and afterwards so a big thank you to everyone involved in helping out with setting up the hall, obtaining prizes from sponsors, managing registration, issuing maps, collecting back in all the checkpoints and signage, the excellent homebaking crew, prize giving officials and the hall clean up team. It’s definitely a team effort so thanks to everyone involved.
A special thank you to Angus, Tom and Will for setting up the course and printing the maps and finally a special mention to the big fat high pressure sitting over Scandanavia for the epic sunshine.
I finally managed to upload some of the photos from the SMBO event ….

Anyone fancy some (dry) rooty trails at Drumlanrig on Sunday? I’ll be joined there by Mr. Hebb – don’t let that put you off, the trails really are very good 😉 It’s just over an hour from Glasgow. Expect natural feeling, twisty trails and lots of roots.

The good people at the cycling & outdoor clothing company, Tenn Outdoors, have provided a selection of their Protean 10K waterproof baggies and one-size-fits-all snoods for the Mugdock SMBO this Sunday. If you want a chance to win some of these (and hopefully have a great ride and enjoy some tea, cake & banter afterwards) then you’ll need to get your name down for the event!

…well, at least where this weekend’s Selkirk ride is concerned. Looking at the forecast I’m taking the chance to move it from Saturday to Sunday in the hope that the weather is a bit better. The choice was:
