Aberfoyle/Finglas – Sunday – 19th April

All, Alison & myself will be riding from Aberfoyle town centre – main car park at the tourist information centre. Leaving 10.30am prompt. I will be riding out from the house (on mtb) and will be at the bridge at the Kirki Puffer (Kirkintilloch) at 8.00am – riding out via Crow/Killearn/Gartmore, if anyone wants to join me. Finglas/Aberfoyle will be at the pace of the slowest rider and faster riders can do some hill repeats sections – never getting too far in front. Planning to ride Finglass anti-clockwise. Bring food/warm clothes as the route is exposed and bail-out options are minimum. Limited options for café stops too – but might be able to get a bowl of chips at the Byre on the way back. Please let us know via reply if u want to join us. Looking forward to it.

Sunday 15 Local Ride

Hi, I was planning to head out for a wee spin around Mugdock this Sunday morning, at the usual time 9 am.

I posted late last year about a breakin where I had two bikes stolen – no sign of them however the insurance payed out so I have two new shiny bikes just waiting to be ridden.

I haven’t been out on either bike for ages and so a couple of hours, depending on the weather, and a cuppa is probably all I will manage.

I haven’t seen any mention of the local Sunday ride on the site for a while and I know some people are keen to head further afield at the weekends these days but if anyone is interested to join me it would be good to meet up.

All the best, Steve

Sunday XC Ride?

Folks,

Weather is looking dry, bright and warmer east of the country on Sunday, so does anyone fancy an Ochils XC ride? I am thinking riding from BofA towards Glen Devon on a mix of road and pathways, then heading up and over the hills on a footpath to Auchterader, then heading back via mix of road and tracks pack.

I estimate this will take approx 3-4 hours, distance approx 40 miles.

Or, up for any other ideas, but best stay more east as much drier….

Save the Date – Saturday 7th Feb

Folks,

Paivi and Dave (old club members who moved to England) are coming up to Scotland for a weekend of biking, banter and beers weekend of 6th/7th February. They will be staying with us in Bridge of Allan but keen to hook up with folks for riding.

Plan loose at the moment, but idea will be to do something decent on the Saturday, probably up our way/Trossachs. Then do something local on the Sunday.

All TBC, but thought I’d give you a heads up- for those who know them, and for  anyone else who fancies coming out for a ride.

More details to follow- ride plans will be formulated nearer the time/weather situation.

Sat 24th January – OK’s?

Anyone (Gav? Graham? Etc) fancy showing me and a few fellow ayrshirites around the Kilpatricks in a couple of weeks? It’s really not far from us, and I’ve been meaning to get up there for ages.

Hope 2015 is a good un for you all!.

PS – anyone entered the Largs stage of the Scottish enduro series? On our doorstep, it’d be rude not to!.

Hi All,

Club Top Update

First up an apology for not keeping members informed on the current club top position. The committee has been hit pretty hard this year with members moving away, new jobs and new arrivals. This has unfortunately meant that some things have taken longer to sort out than anybody would have wished.

You will recall that we had a set of club tops designed to allow members to try on the various styles and sizes. We took orders at that time however, having seen the physical examples of the tops we decided to incorporate a number of small changes into the final design before placing the order.

Unfortunately, soon after the sample tops were produced Alan Doyle, who was designing the tops for us, left Dales. It then took us some time to get the design files from Dales and then find somebody who could make the changes to the original design. In the mean time, one of the sample jerseys has been used by a club member who has not given entirely positive feedback on the quality of the top. This might be a reflection of that top only or might be a reflection of the general quality. At this time the Committee are reviewing the situation with the possibility that an alternative supplier is approached to fill the order.

As you will know the AGM is on the 26th of November if you are able to come along we would hope to be able to update you further then.
