Glentress this Sunday

Since the weather is looking bliss and there’s been a lot of interest, I’m off to GT on Sunday morning.  I aim to be there for 9.30am.  I’m not fussed on routes, whether it’s the main trails or the route Sanny suggested.

The space in my car has been taken, but please post up if you can car share.  Who else is joining me?

Cheers

Right then, who fancies joining me and making up a team of 3?

Its a pretty easy course and fantastically organised event. The sun usually shines (can’t promise that though) and the pit banter is great. Oh, and theres usually a bbq, beer and whisky there too. A team of 3 is great as you get a chance to refuel and you always have someone to chat to before your next lap. All the info’s here

C’mon you know you want to…

Well that was a wee bit chilly!

…as the ten of us headed out last night for what proved to be an excellent ride out on the frozen trails round Loch Ardinning. You know you’re onto a cold one when mud is freezing to your frame, your jockey wheels start growing in size and you contemplate peeing on your hub. Despite the temperature hovering around minus 4, the still night air only felt cold when we stopped to wait for folk to catch up.

There is now a supply of Club’s finest biscuits (sorry but we ate most of the Orange ones) in the cupboard for next week though whoever bought the bourbons and the plain milk biscuits, what were you thinking!?!!!?!? They’re always the last to go out of the biscuit tin and even then only out of desperation. Does anyone actually like Bourbons? Yeuch!

If you’re planning on heading out tonight, the trails will still be pretty hard packed and running fast. There’s very little ice to speak of so should make for a fast blast out. Heck, even the top trail of the Whangie might be fun!

The Berlingobus for sale – cheap, bike friendly car

The time has come to look to part with my much loved Berlingo after 7 faithful years of carrying my family and bikes all over Scotland. It is a diesel 2.0 HDi, good for 50mpg average, low insurance and tons of room (5 bikes in back is not unheard of). It looks like a van, drives like a car and becomes a van if you want, it is the top spec desire model which comes with air con, glass roof, overhead lockers and a modubox in boot (a trolley dolly)! It has done 92k miles – nothing for a french oil burner, and has FSH with all receipts, tyres are good, next service due in 10.5k miles and timing belt is done. The negatives? not much, slightly sticky central locking on back door (it locks manually), a few very minor scuffs but overall great condition. It gets cared for and polished as much as my bikes! I looked up ‘book’ price for private sale and its around £3,200-3,400. As Tax and MOT are due end March, and I have seen something I like, I would take £2,900 (less than most ’53 plate versions or about same as a very nice bike!). It has been a very reliable car and owned by me since new.

Even the cool kids love the berlingo
