Hi. It’s the Abernethy round of the MTB orienteering series this coming Saturday. If you’ve not done one of these before it’s a great 3 hours out on the bike and as competitive as you want to make it. Basically you’re given a map and checkpoints and have 3 hours to get around as many of them as possible. Map reading skills help, as does a degree of fitness – and if you have neither it doesn’t matter.
So, who’s up for it? So far the following folks have either signed up or are interested in doing it: Thomas Wylie, Ryszard, Mario, Katie, Angus, maybe Aileen and myself. If you want to do it then decide quickly because the online entry closes on the 9th of October. It may be possible to sign up on the day but to be sure get it booked ASAP online.
You can sign up at Entry Central and read more about it on the BMBO page. If you’re going then either post up here or shout up on FB to arrange logistics.
Please see above link for full spec, more photos available on request & any questions welcome.
Cheers,
Eilidh
Planning a wee Grand Tour of Scotland before heading south to Englandshire in a few weeks. Taking my 29er for some sweet singletrack, walking boots for a few peaks, a tent and my van so can go anywhere. Sadly, my fitness is at an all time low so no full days out.
So where can you recommend I go in a week??
Hi. I’m planning a cross bike ride this Saturday. Starting from Balloch and making its way back into Milngavie over about 20/25 miles. It’ll be a sociable pace, i.e. plenty of chat, riding at a pace to suit the group with at least 1 stop along the way and maybe a post-ride late lunch. The ride is also suitable for mountain bikes. There’s a few miles of quiet country road to start with but after that it’s mainly gravel track with a small bit of muddy field. Details of the ride and logistics are in the calendar, here:

The weather looks showery so pack appropriate clothing and bear in mind you may cool down when we stop. I managed to talk some folks from the Wednesday Intro ride into coming along so post up if you’re interested and I’ll keep an eye out for you in Balloch.
Hi. I’m planning on heading up to Aberfoyle for a ride tomorrow afternoon. 12:30 start from the main car park. Weather-wise probably expecting some light rain and damp trails. Details (such as they are) can be found here:

If you’re going then either post up here, text me or email me at:

For those who don’t who use the FB Forum here are links to 2 short videos I made recently.
One is of the local trails at OK and the other is my recent weeks holiday to Bikevillage in France. Enjoy
Take 15 GMBC’ers, add to Arran, mix with trails, banter and some alcohol. Bake for 2 days…….
More photos.
So, it was another amazing weekend away with GMBC and Arran delivered lots of great, challenging riding. Great craic all weekend and a big thank you to Tom for organising it all.
The “easy” Sunday ride was fortunate enough to bump into a professional photographer (Andrew Surridge) who took these photos.

My shonky, pocket camera photos will follow later in the week. 🙂
