I cannot access flickr at work so uploading pictures here. I tried to track our Saturday route on the map and I believe it was about 40k, the ascent between a few lowest and highest points was 750 m.

Thanks for everyone who came, great rides and great company. Now you know the hidden gem. We should definitely do another weekend. We have too many good options around here.

Club-ride etiquette

Just a brief reminder…

If you’re on a club ride and come to a fork/junction, check for the riders behind you. If you can’t see them please wait until you can. This should stop anyone getting lost and mean that we don’t leave anyone behind if they have a mechanical or accident.

I’ve been as guilty as anyone for forgetting this, so thought it was time to highlight it again.

Anyone going out on tonight’s club ride?

Hi,

As its been sooooo long since I made a week day club ride, thought I’d see if anyone planning to head out tonight?

Got my bike in the back of the car, and thinking I’ll park up at Mugdock and ride down to car park if there is likely to anyone going out. This will make it easier for me to trek back home to BofA. If not, will just ride from there.

cheers,

Sam

UCI Junior Track Champs

Just a quick reminder that GMBC have 2 free tickets for the above on the 10th August. Cut-off for names is 12:00 noon tomorrow so that the draw can be made and names sent on.

Tickets include a reception and informal tour of the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

Get your names in as, at the moment, it’s me and Iain going.

Sunday MTB Ride Posted

Hi – My plan is to ride at Carron Valley in the morning and Cathkin Braes in the afternoon, cold drink in the westend afterwards.  Join in for any/all of the bits.  Details of the times and there’s an offer of a lift all on the events page.  Please post up on the events page if you’re up for it.  Hopefully see you there!

Club Night

Many thanks to everyone who made it along to our club-night yesterday, I know that Graeme and Charlie were pleased with the turnout and I saw Graeme signing more than 1 of his books! Hopefully we’ll be able to get him back after the event in September!

Thanks, Jon.

Ayrshire Alps road bike park and Audax (Sat 17th August)

As an ex Ayrshireite, I have a patriotic duty to tell the world  what a tremendous place to cycle Ayrshire is.  Loads of quiet roads, big climbs and fast descents.

They’ve created this website to tell you where the good climbs are and helpfully graded them:  http://www.ayrshirealps.org/

There’s also an 200km and 100km Audax on Sat 17th of August starting in Girvan- think I’ll give the 200km a go.  They included some gravel roads too – they raced the Davie Bell memorial road race over so apparently it’s ok for a road bike.

Here’s the maps for the Audax: http://southcarrickdaviebell.wordpress.com/davie-bell-audax/
