Hi All,
Category: Upcoming rides
Planning a ride? Tell everybody about it here.
Carron Valley (Sunday 6/1/13)
I feel like keeping my feet relatively dry on some man-made trails, so heading over to Carron Valley on Sunday. Looking to put a number of laps in.
Can offer a lift for one person plus bike from the West End.
More details on the calendar.
Passportes Du Soleil Event 2013
Dene has added this event to the calendar for the end of June. It takes place in the French/Swiss Alps and is an 80km-ish circuit starting from 1 of any 9 bases on any of 3 days that you choose. The vibe seems to be chilled out and aimed at enjoyment and experiencing the area (i.e. it’s not really a race, probably more akin to the Merida/mountain marathons). I don’t think you can sign up for the event until February.
Is there anyone else out there who is interested in doing this? I’ll be investigating flight & accommodation options over the holidays so if you’re interested then post up and I’ll get in touch about the details.
An Alpine ride with Dene & Kev? What could possibly go wrong* ??!?!? 😉
(* makes mental note to take out the best insurance cover!)
3rd January – Fairlie moor?
Anyone fancy something different yet reasonably local?.
There is a few options for start and end point riding the moors, I’d suggest starting at Dalry railway station, which can be reached from Glasgow by train, or about 40 mins from the city centre down the A737 by car.
This way gives a nice warm up on back roads up onto the moor road, where there are a few options which all result in really good descents, the best of which being the descent from Kaim hill at around 1100 feet, down to sea level by means of techy moorland, swoopy rooty woods and finishing with a cracker down Fairlie glen. Skye Easter Weekend
I was wondering if there was any interest in this idea? There was availability for Thursday 28March-Sunday 1April but not for either of the May day holidays at the Sligachan Bunkhouse http://www.sligachanselfcatering.co.uk/#/bunkhouse/4558326351. The cost is £16 per person per night, or £20 if linen is required. I thought it was worth going up on thursday night to get 3.5 days riding given the drive time. Sligachan is fairly central for the Skye Rides, there is a pub near by too. But if anyone has any other suggestions…………………
Ride suggestions welcomed too:
Sligachan out and back no to the gloopy loop
Glen Brittle
Quiraing at Staffin
McLeod’s Maidens on the west coast
To be discussed at Christmas night out when sober, if not post your thoughts. If there is interest I will start a list this sunday
Cheers Chris
Anyone riding tonight – 11/12/12
Planning to get the ice tyres on and head out at 7pm. Anyone else heading out? brrrr

Pitlochry Ride (Sun. 9th Dec)
Just a wee reminder of the Pitlochry ride this weekend, details of where to meet are on the calendar.
At the moment the weather’s looking good so there should be some good views and wintery scenery, post up if you’re coming.
This Saturday – Dunkeld ride
I’m planning a cycle from Dunkeld Main Street to Deuchary hill and Loch Ordie. Depending on Time I may try Glen Garr.
The route is a little fuzzy, but for the most part I know it and I have a map…somewhere! 🙂
Park at Hermitage car park for 9:30 ready to leave 9:45.
Sunday Local
Planning on a sharp 9am start – crisp and crunchy trails hopefully 🙂 who’s up for a few hrs of hopefully not muddy riding ??
Something a bit different – Pitlochry 10am this Saturday
See calendar….a nice change to your local jaunt, the trails will be great and the views fantastic on a crisp sunny day!
